After starting its business, operating exclusively in the civil engineering sector, Moncada Energy Group has progressively managed to integrate, in an effective manner, the high professional standards gained in the construction sector with the best practices currently available in the field of energy from renewable sources, thus becoming one of the main independent Italian operators in the renewable energy sector.

1991
Moncada was established in Agrigento and focused its core business on the building construction sector.

1992/2000
The Moncada Group develops its activities in the construction and infrastructure sector, carrying out highly complex initiatives in the field of residential and industrial construction, plumbing and public lighting systems as well as road traffic. All works are carried out in compliance with the standards set by the quality management systems (UNI EN ISO 9001).

In the same years, the Moncada Group, by acquiring a stake in a company that operates in the installation and management of supervision and remote control systems, began a process of diversification of its activities.

2001
Following the liberalization of the Italian electricity market ('Bersani Decree'), the Group begins a second diversification process and approaches the renewable energy sector from wind sources by optimizing its professional and organizational capabilities.

2005
The first wind farm of the “Monte Mele” Group, located in the province of Agrigento, with an installed power of 9.25 MW, enters into operation. The first prototype of a 750 kW direct drive wind turbine entirely designed and built by a Group company was installed in this plant.

2007
Again in the province of Agrigento, the further 4 wind farms 'Monte Malvizzo', 'Monte Durrà', 'Monte Narbone' and 'Altopiano Petrasi' with a total power of 96.05 MW come into operation.

2008
The Group acquires a line for the production of thin film silicon solar panels and begins the construction of the production plant. In the same year, a joint venture was launched with Atel SpA (now Alpiq), which acquired a 30% stake in the company shares of Rinnovabili M&A, to which Moncada Energy had in the meantime contributed all the Group's Italian activities.

2009
The first factory in Italy for the production of amorphous silicon thin film solar panels is inaugurated and comes into operation.
Work begins on the construction of the “Cattolica” wind farms, with a power of 40 MW and the largest Sicilian wind farm “Aerorossa”, with a power of 84 MW.

2010
The “Serre Narbone” photovoltaic plant in the province of Agrigento enters production, with a power of approximately 7 MW.

The “Campofranco” integrated photovoltaic plant in the province of Agrigento enters production, with a power of approximately 1 MW.

The “Cattolica” wind farm in the province of Agrigento enters production, with a power of approximately 40 MW.

The “Porto Empedocle” integrated photovoltaic plant in the province of Agrigento enters production, with a power of approximately 1 MW;
The integrated photovoltaic system “PalaSport Porto Empedocle” in the province of Agrigento enters production, with a power of approximately 200 kW;

2011
The Group purchases the equipment of Signet Solar, a manufacturer of thin film silicon solar panels, based in Dresden, Germany, and increases its production capacity to 100 MW per year.

The “Aerorossa” wind farm enters production, with a power of approximately 40 MW.

The AGireinsieme foundation is established, of which Salvatore Moncada is the president.

The Group signs a Joint Venture agreement with Solar Capital, a Cape Town SA company for the construction of a 360 MW photovoltaic plant in South Africa.

2012
The joint venture with Siena Ambiente is established and 4 photovoltaic plants enter production in the province of Siena for a power of 1 MW.
The Group wins 4 tenders from the Ministry of Defense to install solar covers on roofs.

The photovoltaic plant in Lyubimets (Southern Bulgaria) enters production with a power of 10 MW.

The government financial agreement is signed between the DOE, South African Department of Energy, and Solar Capital De Aar, a subsidiary of the Moncada Energy Group, for the construction of the largest solar plant ever built in South Africa.

2013
Construction of the “Solar Capital De Aar” solar plant begins, with a capacity of 94.5 MW, where the Moncada Group, in addition to being the EPC contractor, is also the largest shareholder.

2014
The construction of “Solar Capital De Aar” is completed and the plant comes into operation. In the same year, the production of solar panels was also interrupted and the MSE factory was closed due to the crisis in the sector.

2015
Construction begins on “Sola Capital De Aar 3” of which Moncada is the sole shareholder.

2016/2018
The joint venture with Atel (today, Alpiq) is dissolved through the Moncada Group's acquisition of the entire share capital of M&A Rinnovabili (today, M Rinnovabili).

7 small wind farms of 0.06 MW each enter into operation.

The Group works on the design and construction of photovoltaic systems with a power of 50 MW and wind plants with a power of 30 MW.
