MTR Carbon Capture
MTR Carbon Capture is a division of Membrane Technology and Research, Inc. (MTR), which specializes in membrane-based separation systems. Their carbon capture process uses the Polaris™ polymeric membrane, which is environmentally friendly, requiring no chemicals and less water than conventional methods. MTR Carbon Capture’s technology is modular and scalable, making it suitable for various industrial applications, including coal and natural gas-fired power plants, cement plants, and steel plants1. They are currently constructing the world’s largest membrane-based carbon capture plant at the Dry Fork Station in Wyoming, which will capture over 150 tonnes of CO2 daily.

Why MTR Carbon Capture?
SIMPLE, MODULAR DESIGN
Our compact modules are scalable to your needs and offer a simple passive design.
FIELD TESTED
We have a more than decade-long track record of field testing, where Polaris membranes have shown success for carbon capture rates of 90%+.
VALUED EXPERTISE
We have 200+ years combined expertise in membranes and carbon capture, plus a 15-year partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy.
DRY FORK STATION:
Building the World’s Largest Membrane-Based Carbon Capture Plant
Construction has begun on our large pilot plant at the Wyoming Integrated Test Center. Using PolarisTM membranes, we will capture more than 150 tonnes of CO2 each day from flue gas produced by Basin Electric’s Dry Fork Station, a coal-based power plant. When operational in 2024, it will be the largest capture plant based on clean membrane technology in the world.
