PURAGLOBE was founded in 1995 upon a simple promise: to help protect our environment by promoting sustainability throughout the oil industry and beyond. We started with a bold plan. OK, maybe it was a bit too bold since it involved taking an unproven technology and making it a reality. Indeed, Honeywell UOP HyLube™ technology offered tremendous potential for sustainability and innovation. But it had yet to be developed for the high-volume production of sustainable base oils and lubricants. Since then, nearly two decades have passed—and we’ve kept our promise. After years of pain-staking engineering, we became the first to produce 1 million gallons of sustainable Group II base oils—and the first to mitigate 1 million metric tons of CO2 emissions using our exclusive HyLube™ process technology (according to calculations verified by NSF and IFEU in 2016 and 2019).
