Welcome
TerraStar Energy and its technology partners have hundreds of dedicated scientists, engineers, designers, fabricators and construction workers ready to help you and your stakeholders develop and build the best and most cost-efficient systems for your specific situation. Start by sending us an email with a short project description. We are happy to provide guidance from the very beginning of your process through to the successful completion and ongoing operations.
About Us
We have over 2 dozen specialists that work together, combining our talents under a single banner. As a team we have centuries worth of experience in all aspects of project evaluation, design, engineering, finance and management.
This ensures that TerraStar is responsible for every aspect of the project from beginning to end. There are no cracks, so nothing can slip through them!
We start with your inquiry. Each project is unique, but generally they can be broken down into fairly simple component parts. We can accomplish a great deal within the first hour of consultation and can estimate the potential capital cost and revenue streams early on.
This preliminary evaluation will help you and us to determine the viability of the project. We determine from the outset what the primary considerations are; waste volume, type, condition upon collection, etc
We will assist you with planning and developing your project from beginning to end. If, after your initial consult, you decide to proceed we will prepare a detailed proposal that includes a detailed budget. We will arrange a site visit and a waste audit and provide you with a roadmap of the project development, estimates for equipment, site work, detailed projections of anticipated revenues and operating costs.
We will propose what we determine to be the best avenue for you and your project based on all the pertinent variables. We will provide our recommendations for technology partners including which, if any, TerraStar products are best suited to the purpose.
We work with many Partner-Developers around the world. Our P-D’s have excellent local knowledge of their individual markets. They bring to the table the local knowledge and the connections we require to make a project viable.
Our growth plan includes establishing an ever increasing number of such partners so that we can expand our base of installations, process more waste and bring sustainable energy to more markets.
In the process, we will reduce the total amount of waste going to landfill and ending up in rivers, streams and the ocean. By enlisting local developers we can be in more places at once, create more jobs and increase the size of our company footprint.
Our current P-Ds are working on projects ranging in size from 2MW up to 100MW with total investments of US$9M to over US$100M. They include projects using animal waste, fuel crops, industrial waste and MSW.
Since there is no “one-size-fits-all” solution, TerraStar uses modules in our project design. This allows us great flexibility in building a waste-to-energy processing facility and power plant that fully exploits the potential energy in every waste stream.
Depending on the situation, we can mix and match components and technologies that can be ganged together to handle any volume of waste. This allows us to easily scale any project. If the situation requires it, we can start small and add to plant capacity over time with minimal additional engineering cost.
Further, our modular components arrive to the site ready to run. Our turnaround times and installation costs are reduced Our costs are controlled and our estimates are accurate. We are able to build power plants at a cost per MW capacity competitive with traditional fossil fuel plants, but at smaller scales, making our plant design perfect for small communities or individual businesses, as well as large cities.
We have projects all over the world. We are happy to work anywhere there is a need, so please do not hesitate to contact us, where ever you and your project are located.
Best suited for hard and dry materials including; plastic, paper, wood, cardboard, fabrics, bubble wrap, plastic film, rubber, etc. Material is shredded and then milled to a fine powder.
The powder is then transformed into pellets of a consistent size and density. The pellets are then fed into the gasifier where, under high temperatures, the chemical bonds are broken. The volatile gases (mostly H2) are extracted and can be used as fuel for heat or used to generate electricity.
Best suited for soft and wet materials including; food waste, septic waste, manure, crop residue, grass, leaves, etc Material is shredded and mixed in large tanks with water where methanogenic bacteria consume the feedstock, releasing methane (CH4) in the process.
The methane can be used as a fuel for heating or fed into generators to make electricity.
Best suited for plant material including; hay, straw, wood bark, etc. This is a lower tech solution than gasification and/or anaerobic digestion, and highly effective as a low cost means of generating power. Our design reduces particulates (smoke and ash) and operate at lower pressures than other kinds of boilers, so they are safer and easier to manage.
Sorting Operations: Where the waste stream contains recyclables or unusable materials, the feedstock must be sorted and processed. Small amounts of foreign matter are acceptable, but eliminating as much as possible is important.
Feedstock Preparation: Depending on the type and condition of the waste to be converted, we provide the equipment necessary to prepare it for the best method of conversion to energy
