Our latest pet incinerator and equine cremator are now being installed in Adelaide
We have always said that Matthews Environmental Solutions’ pet cremation technology is made in the United Kingdom and is used all around the world and if you ever needed further proof of this statement then just take a look at the photograph showing three members of our engineering team standing in front of the colossal equine cremator, which they are in the process of installing and commissioning along with a multi-chambered pet incinerator for our client The Animal Welfare League of South Australia.
AWL operates the state’s largest animal shelters located in Wingfield, Edinburgh North and Port Adelaide and every year they care for around 12,000 cats and dogs. As a truly professional and compassionate operation, in addition to their rescue and care facilities, AWL also serves the pet cremation business by providing a service for pet owners and veterinary practices throughout Australia.
Last year, when AWL were planning a new state-of-the-art cremation facility to be built in Adelaide, they mounted an international search to identify the right company to design and manufacture the bespoke pet incinerator equipment, plus the purpose-built equine cremator they required.
A major consideration of their remit was that their partner should share the same values regarding quality, value, reliability and environmental responsibility as themselves and after researching and speaking to a number of companies in the end they had no hesitation in selecting Matthews to join them in their impressive design and build project.
Here in Manchester, England, we worked very closely with the AWL project team to design an eight-chambered pet incinerator together with a huge equine cremator. The specification of the equipment not only had to provide maximum ethical and operational efficiency but it had to be carefully designed to ensure that it was compatible with AWL’s new crematorium building that was also being purpose-built.
Both the pet incinerator and equine cremator were 100 percent designed, engineered and assembled in our Manchester workshops where they were then pre-fired and rigorously tested before being approved for shipment halfway around the world to Australia in April.
On confirmation of the equipments arrival at its destination, an engineering team from Matthews flew out to Adelaide to complete the installation and commissioning. The team comprised: Senior Project Engineer Ron Munton, Senior Installation Engineer Matthew Mills and Apprentice Engineer Josh Patterson. So far they have been working on the installation for around four weeks and expect that it will take another two weeks before the final commissioning and handover is complete.
