Breakthrough Materials
For decades, the standard in concentrated solar power (CSP) has been massive concrete and steel construction to hold mirrors steady to track the sun and focus light on a receiver target. The focused light is used to make steam for power production or industrial processes. Hyperlight’s fundamentally new architecture allows the use of low cost plastic extrusions mounted on a sealed water bed foundation. This is a breakthrough in itself, because it completely eliminates the expensive concrete and steel used in CSP reflector systems – and it allows paradigm shifting breakthroughs in manufacturing and installation as well.
