CUTNOX - Waste to Energy Plant
From Flue Gas Cleaning
We can provide CUTNOX for the reduction of NOx products from incinerator processes as stand-alone units for installation in existing or new furnaces. We offer SCR primarily as an integrated part of a complete flue gas cleaning system.

CUTNOX® is a process in which a jet of water and air is sprayed from the rear furnace wall towards the combustion zone in the lower part of the furnace. By remixing, reducing components such as ammonia and carbon monoxide react with nitric oxide at the back of the furnace. Temperature spikes are reduced and the temperature profile over the grate is evened out, which leads to better bottom ash combustion and a reduction of NOx formation. The process can be combined to advantage with SNCR NOx reduction systems. CUTNOX® was developed in collaboration with KIT (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology).
INFORMATION ABOUT OXIDES OF NITROGEN AND EMISSIONS FROM INCINERATION
Oxides of nitrogen (NOx) are harmful pollutants that cause direct harm to the respiratory organs. Oxides of nitrogen are a contributory factor in the acidification of the environment and the formation of ground level ozone. NOx emissions from waste incineration are governed by EU Directive 2000/76/EG. Both primary and secondary methods are used to achieve low NOx emissions.
During combustion, nitrogen is released from the fuel as volatile substances. The volatile nitrogen compounds form nitrogen radicals. Depending on combustion conditions, these radicals form either NO or N2. High oxygen concentrations and high temperatures promote the formation of NO, while low oxygen concentrations and low temperatures promote the formation of N2.
