Re-heaters and Reducing Gas Generators
Proper temperature control is crucial for a sulphur recovery unit’s catalytic stages. Duiker’s in-line and TGT burners can achieve a turn down of ten percent, and they lead the field in eliminating soot formation. They also prevent corrosion problems through cold spots by increased temperature homogeneity and ensure a longer catalyst lifetime, which significantly reduces operational costs.
Increased Catalyst Lifetime
In-line burners share many features with furnace burners. There are however, some key differences. First of all we want to prevent any oxygen from being introduced or slipping into the catalyst beds as this causes sulphation and potentially sulphur fires in the catalyst beds. Therefore, unlike furnace burners which operate with excess air, these burners operate in a slightly substoichiometric regime. The varying back pressure of the sulphur recovery unit and a dynamic control of the sulphur recovery unit which continually adjusts the operating conditions, further increases the demands on our equipment.
Reducing Gas Generation without Soot Formation
Duiker reducing gas generators are especially effective at operating efficiently and reliably under deeper substoichiometric conditions due to the excellent mixing characteristics. As these reducing gas generators combust fuel gas under deep substoichiometric conditions it is crucial soot formation is prevented. This is achieved through quick and very homogenous mixing of the combustion air and fuel gas as well as generating a homogenous temperature profile before mixing with the process gas of the sulphur recovery unit.
