LNG Metering Systems
From Metering Systems
Our systems have formed an industry standard for custody transfer metering of LNG around the world. When natural gas is cooled to approximately -162°C it condenses to a liquefied state – LNG – (Liquefied Natural Gas). In this state it is 1/600th of its volume compared to its gaseous state. This makes economics of transporting LNG viable.

Technology advancements in the liquefaction of LNG...
Technology advancements in the liquefaction of LNG have reduced processing costs and the fact that natural gas is a ‘clean’ fuel (compared with coal and other fossil fuels) has led to significant growth in LNG trade. The importance of LNG is reshaping the measurement industry.
Alderley have manufactured custody metering stations for Liquefied Gases since 1977 – tackling the challenges that cryogenic temperatures, low fluid lubricity and potential flashing bring. We have worked with meter manufacturers to deliver coriolis and ultrasonic metering solutions that meet the specific requirements and challenges that an LNG metering application brings.
