Lindorm SediLink - Model LM-36 - Radio Modem and Solar Panel
The SediLink is a combined radio modem and solar charger for the SediMeter. It features a socket that fits an X-Bee radio module, which means that the radio frequency and range can be adopted based on project requirements and legal constraints. Options include 2.4 GHz radios for ranges up to a mile, 900 MHz for up to 9 miles, and cell phone units. The network can also function as a mesh, meaning that nearby units can forward messages from units farther away. The SediLink is designed to sit on top of a buoy, either a low buoy or elevated on a 2″ tube for better radio range. It has 4 white LEDs for visual control of function from a distance. Each SediLink can connect to several instruments. Contact us for assistance with network design.

Description
The modem has a socket for an XBee or XBee PRO radio module, where the latter has higher effect. These radios use license-free frequencies, such as 2.4 GHz globally, 900 MHz in the Americas, and 868 MHz in Europe. The radio modem has four functions. It translates communication between a SediMeter™ and an XBee radio. Second, it provides power to the radio module from its rechargeable Lithium battery. Third, it has built-in solar cells for recharging its own battery and that of a connected SediMeter. Forth, it has white LEDs on the sides that blink when the instrument wakes up. This is useful as a visual indication that it is responding, and also as a buoy light to warn seafarers at night.
For laboratory use the radio modem can be mounted directly on a SediMeter SM3A, but normally a male-female cable is used to connect them, and the radio modem is mounted on a tube on a buoy.
Most radios support both 9600 baud for longer range, and 115200 baud for faster data transfer and less battery drain. Most radios also support DigiMesh™, a networking system that allows radios to act like routers and extend the effective size of the monitoring network.
We can also offer a cell phone module instead of radio. At the time of writing, the option is only available in the U.S.
