Uskmouth Sustainable Energy Park
SAE is the owner of the land, grid connection, infrastructure and existing power station at the Uskmouth site in Newport, South Wales. SAE is working to transition the Uskmouth site into a sustainable energy park, with the potential to deliver c.1GW of Battery Energy Storage System (“BESS”) already identified. The Uskmouth site has unique access to the grid coupled with significant land and infrastructure that make it a prime location for the delivery of a large-scale, commercially attractive, BESS facility. The widespread integration of BESS into transmission and distribution systems is widely recognised as a key enabler of increased and more rapid integration of intermittent renewable energy into the UK electricity supply.
Battery Energy Storage System (“BESS”)
SAE has developed and recently sold its first BESS project to Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners, this 230MW project is currently under construction.
3 further projects are in development with an aggregate capacity of 719MW and grid connection dates starting in 2026.
Future Projects
The site and infrastructure present an exciting opportunity for other energy solutions and SAE is exploring opportunities for additional projects at the Uskmouth Energy Hub
