VDV - Wind Energy Toolkit
With the increasing demand for clean energy Wind Energy has become the worlds fastest growing electricity generation technology. Vista Data Vision is a powerful software for studying the expected outcome from a Wind Site as well as comparing Wind Turbine's real performance to the design criteria.
The purpose of he VDV for Wind Energy is twofold;

a) To estimate Power output in kW and Energy output in kWh of a Wind Turbine based on a Wind Turbine´s Power Curve and actual Wind Speed Measurement, and
b) To compare the actual Wind Turbine Power Output in kW of a Wind Turbine to the designed Wind Turbine Power Output as put forward in the Wind Turbine's Power Curve.
XY-Graph
Plot a Wind Turbine Power Output versus Wind Speed with a selected Power Curve in the background and quickly see the Turbine efficiency. Apply Availability and Wind Direction Filters. See Wind Speed distribution as Histogram on the same Graph and in table format.

Here we have 7days of actual data and Air Density Variable is connected to an Air Density sensor. The Wind Directional Filter is being utilized.
In the top right-hand corner you may notice that only 29% of all recorded data lies within the filter settings for Wind Direction.
On the right-hand side of the Power Output box is a display showing the measured MWh.
On the right-hand side of the Power Curve box is a display showing the calculated MWh based on the Wind Turbine Power Curve.
The percentage is the actual Wind Turbine efficiency, e.g. the measured Wind Turbine Power Output divided by the calculated Wind Curve Power Output.

By checking Show Histogram checkbox a Histogram will appear on the XY Graph showing the Wind Speed distribution. Notice that the Histogram values are plotted against the right-hand side Y-Axis. The Bin Size can be modified.
Wind Energy Time Series
Wind Energy Time Series allows you to see graphically the calculated Power Output of a Wind Turbine based on its Power Curve and a wind speed sensor. Also on display is the estimated Average kW output of the Wind Turbine, the Max kW, the load factor and total electrical energy produced during the time period.

Below the graph are indicator boxes for the Average and Max kW for both the Calculated and Measured Power Output as well as Load Factor (LF%) and MWh.
Load Factor (LF%): Load factor is Average kW divided by Max kW.
Easily save all data shown in the graph, the Data will be saved in TSV (Tab Separated Values) format.
