Gasification
Gasification offers a method of converting the energy content of waste directly to energy, whilst at the same time minimising the amount of waste passing to landfill. Included within this process is the facility to manage calorific value of product gases passed to the point of use. Point of use may include use in boilers and combined heat and power systems (CHP). The GEP Energy's gasification is designed to accept a broad range of organic waste consistencies. Inorganic compounds are removed during gasification as part of the cleanup process. The system has a number of advantages for use in advanced biomass power systems, including reduced emissions, increased efficiencies, and flexibility for use with a variety of biomass feedstocks.
Some advantages of the system are:
Some advantages of the system are:
- Absence of excess air in the thermal reduction process prevents formation of harmful pollutant gases.
- Plant configuration allows a wide range of waste types to be passed through the thermal reactor.
- Integrated management options, combined wet wastes and dry wastes, single energy park.
- Can be located close to the source of waste, thus reducing transport distances and costs.
- Gas management system ensures smooth operation of energy generation plant.
- Conversion of a waste-stream liability into a resource.
- Immediate conversion of biomass waste to energy.
- Waste reduction to ash for landfilling.
- Maximizes existing landfill capacity.
