Renewable and Green Energy Practice Service
Rich and Henderson, P.C. represents a variety of companies in the renewable and green energy field, assisting them as they negotiate the regulatory maze that often confronts projects of their type. Rich and Henderson has the experience and knowledge to help your business to better understand the issues and to help resolve them.

For example, The Northeast Maryland Waste Disposal Authority relies on the firm and Tim Henderson to provide legal support regarding the three existing waste-to-energy plants in Maryland along with support for the Authority's plan to expand existing facilities and to construct a new plant in Frederick County. Rich and Henderson has also represented the owners or operators of two of the existing facilities for a number of years; the Wheelabrator facility located in Baltimore City and a second facility located on the Army's Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Harford County, Maryland. Power generated by the conversion of municipal waste to energy is designated as a renewable energy source in the State of Maryland's renewable energy portfolio.
Rich and Henderson also represents Penn Wind, LLC, a company that constructs wind energy generating facilities as well as PA Solar, LLC, a company that develops solar energy projects. Rich and Henderson provides legal representation for these firms associated with the siting and construction of facilities in Maryland; both before the Public Service Commission and state and local environmental agencies. Jim Doyle, an attorney with our firm, provides lobbying services to these companies before the Maryland General Assembly and legal service before the Public Service Commission and other agencies to facilitate the location of renewable energy facilities in Maryland. Mr. Doyle also represents Direct Energy, a large national energy supplier in matters before the General Assembly and state agencies.
The firm is also an active Associate Member of the Integrated Work Services Association (IWSA), one of the nation's leading voices driving the initiative to include waste to energy as a renewable energy source in the various initiatives in Congress to encourage the growth of renewable energy (e.g., through tax credits or government procurement policies).
