Solutions of Medium Voltage Generator
Current limit in low voltage distribution systems ends at 6300A. For currents exceeding this value or in systems with high distribution losses, efficiency of the electrical system is boosted by choosing the alternator voltage between 3000-13500 volts while making design. When compared with low voltage alternator generators, we see difference in control and switch system of medium voltage alternators.

In generator systems using medium voltage alternator:
- Distribution losses and voltage drops are reduced
- Efficiency of the distribution system is increased
- Setup and maintenance costs are decreased
This type of system, neutral point of the alternator is grounded and transmission is provided through 3 phases. Distribution over medium voltage decreases the copper sections, while using a TT system in lieu of a TN system saves on use of neutral cable. This is one of the factors that help to reduce cable costs.
Use of medium voltage alternators will allow use of SF6 gas circuit breakers, or vacuum breakers that are very popular in the recent years, for switching materials of the ATS system.
System is protected by a generator control system, as protection can be increased if desired by protection relays to be added on breaker panels.
