Weather Utility is an all-in-one application used for automatic download and storage of free weather data from the web.

Data are collected from yr.no, thredds.met.no and the seNorge portal and can be used immediately as input data in forecast processes, or as part of production or consumption planning.

Water Utility currently supports the following data:
- Download free, gridded forecasts from thredds.met.no to convert time series for user-defined areas and elevation zones in Powel Inflow (separate licence) or for a specific area. Available weather variables are temperature, precipitation, wind speed, wind direction, air humidity, air pressure, solar radiation and cloud cover. These forecast files cover Norway, Sweden, Finland and parts of Denmark.
- Download measured weather data from frost.met.no, including solar radiation, wind speed, wind direction, temperature, precipitation and air humidity in Norway.
- Download point forecasts from yr.no, including wind speed, wind direction, temperature, precipitation and air pressure for anywhere in the world.
- Download free discharge data from the seNorge portal for available hydrological measuring stations from NVE in Norway.
thredds.met.no has also launched a new product for gridded weather data. These are data that have been corrected using weather radar observations and weather data from a range of public and private actors in Norway. These data have a grid resolution of 1 km and are updated every hour with an extended forecast for up to 64 hours. It is also possible to access an archive of historical, corrected forecasts back to autumn 2013. These data can be used to calibrate and update forecasting models in areas with poor or lack of observed data.
